The Creed

Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Explanation

The meaning in a few plain lines

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) warns against carrying weapons against Muslims to intimidate or rob them. Whoever does so unjustly has committed a serious crime and a major sin and deserves this stern warning.

Abu Wāqid al-Hārith ibn ‘Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in the mosque with some people when three men came over. Two of them stepped toward the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and one left. The two stood nearby the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). One of them saw an empty place in the circle, and he sat in it. The other one sat behind them. The third one, however, left. When the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) finished, he said: "Shall I not inform you about these three persons? One of them sought refuge with Allah, so Allah gave him refuge. The second one felt shy, so Allah was shy towards him. ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: He came to the Black Stone and kissed it and said: Verily, I know that you are a stone that can neither harm nor benefit. Had I not seen the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) kissing you, I would not have kissed you.Agreed upon
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man was with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and another man passed by him. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I love this man." The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you told him?" He said: 'No!' He said: "Tell him." He went after him and said: "I love you for Allah's sake." He said: "May the One you love me for His sake love you!"An-Nasaa’i - Narrated by Abu Daoud - Narrated by Ahmad
Yazīd ibn Hayyān reported: I went along with Husayn ibn Sabrah and ‘Amr ibn Muslim to Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him). As we sat by his side, Husayn said to him: "O Zayd, you have acquired a great virtue as you saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) listened to his words, fought by his side (in different battles), and offered prayer behind him. You have, in fact, earned a great virtue. Could you narrate to us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "I have grown old and it has been long. I have forgotten some of what I memorized from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him); so accept whatever I narrate to you, and do not compel me to narrate what I fail to narrate." He then said: "One day, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon at a watering place known as Khumm located between Makkah and Madīnah. He praised Allah, extolled Him, and gave us an admonition and reminder. He then said: 'O people! I am only a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I will respond to Allah's call, but I am leaving with you two weighty things; the first is the Book of Allah, in which there is right guidance and light. So hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it.' He exhorted us to hold fast to the Book of Allah and then said: 'And members of my family. I remind you of Allah with regard to members of my family. I remind you of Allah with regard to members of my family.'" Husayn said to Zayd: "Who are the members of his family, O Zayd? Are his wives not members of his family?" Thereupon Zayd said: "His wives are members of his family. But here, the members of his family are those for whom Zakah is forbidden." He asked: "Who are they?" Zayd said: "The household of ‘Ali, ‘Aqīl, Ja‘far, and ‘Abbās." Husayn asked: "Is Zakah forbidden for all of them?" He said: 'Yes!' In another narration, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "But I am leaving with you two weighty things; the first is the Book of Allah, and it is the rope of Allah. Whoever holds fast to it shall be on the path of guidance, and whoever abandons it shall be on the path of error.”Narrated by Muslim
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man asked the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): "When is the Hour?" He said: "What have you prepared for it?" He said: "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)." He said: "You will be with whom you love." Anas said: We did not feel more joyful than we did due to the Prophet's statement: "You will be with whom you love." Anas said: I love the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, and I hope I will be with them by virtue of my love for them, even if I did not perform deeds like their deeds.Agreed upon
Mirdās al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Righteous people will go (die) one after another. Meanwhile, the dregs of people, like waste barley or dates, will remain. Allah will not raise them in esteem."Narrated by Bukhari

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hasten to deeds before being overtaken by tribulations that are like patches of the darkest night; a man would be a believer in the morning and become a disbeliever in the evening, or he would be a believer in the evening and become a disbeliever in the morning.
