‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say:

«‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated in praising the son of Mary, for I am only His slave. So, call me the slave of Allah and His Messenger."»

Explanation

The meaning in a few plain lines

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) prohibits immoderateness and exceeding the Shariah-prescribed limit in praising him and forbids ascribing to himself the peculiar attributes and actions of Allah or knowledge of the unseen, or that he should be supplicated to along with Allah, as the Christians did with Jesus, the son of Mary (peace be upon him). Then, he made it clear that he is one of the servants of Allah and commanded us to call him: the servant and Messenger of Allah.

‘Ubādah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah alone with no partner and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger; that ‘Isa (Jesus) is the slave and Messenger of Allah, and His word which He communicated to Maryam (Mary), and a spirit from Him; and that Paradise is true and Hellfire is true, Allah will certainly admit him into Paradise, regardless of the deeds which he has done."Agreed upon
‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: "The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said something and I said another thing. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Whoever dies while invoking besides Allah another equal will enter Hellfire.' And I say: 'Whoever dies while not invoking besides Allah another equal will enter Paradise.'"Agreed upon
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The reward of a man's prayer in congregation is twenty five times greater than that of the prayer he offers in his house or market. That is because if he performs ablution thoroughly, then sets out for the mosque with the sole intention of praying, he will not take a step except he is raised one degree in reward, and one sin is removed from his account thereby. Then when he offers his prayer, the angels keep on supplicating Allah for him as long as he is in his place of prayer (saying): 'O Allah, Bestow Your blessings upon him; O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy upon him.' He is considered to be in prayer as long as he is waiting for prayer."Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim
Jābir ibn ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was granted five that none before me was granted: I was granted victory through terror from a distance of one month's journey; the earth has been made for me a mosque and a means of purification, so any man from my Ummah who is caught up by the prayer should pray; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, although they were not lawful for anyone before me; I have been granted the intercession; and a prophet used to be sent to his people in specific, whereas I have been sent to all people."Agreed upon
Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Almighty, said: 'Those who love one another for the sake of My glory will have pulpits of light for which the prophets and martyrs will envy them.'"Narrated by At-Termedhy - Narrated by Ahmad
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “In Paradise, there are one hundred degrees that Allah prepared for those who make jihad in the cause of Allah.
